Puritan Bennett Launches Clinivision® v.2.0

Pleasanton, Calif. (October 13, 2005) - Puritan Bennett is pleased to announce the release of Clinivision® mobile patient charting (MPC) software, v.2.0. An exciting feature of this software release is its ability to be operated on a personal digital assistant (PDA), which gives respiratory therapists the mobility and easy access to information they need to chart at the bedside immediately following treatment. Expected benefits are improved efficiency for therapists and better documentation accuracy. Previously, therapists would have to carry larger devices, such as laptop computers, if they wanted to chart at the bedside.

 

The Clinivision MPC system is a wireless, point-of-care charting application designed to support clinical information management, improve patient care, increase productivity and reduce costs in respiratory care. The system helps respiratory therapists more effectively plan, manage and evaluate their respiratory care functions.

 

Another advantage of the Clinivision MPC system is less downtime because the application operates independently of the hospital network. Many web-based charting applications are dependent on the hospital network, which can experience system downtime and typically has limited geographic coverage. Clinivision MPC software v.2.0 communicates with the hospital’s wireless network, but is an independent application that operates on the charting device. This allows therapists to continue to chart on PDAs, laptops or workstations and to have access to patient information, activities or orders as needed, regardless of the hospital network status.

 

The overall result of this software release is improved performance and responsiveness in the Clinivision MPC system. The mobile patient charting module has been redesigned for 2003 Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ software, Microsoft Windows® XP and Microsoft Windows 2000 operating systems. The release of v.2.0 also includes support for input devices such as bar code scanners, infrared and keyboards.
